After looking at paint chips and carpet samples for hours, we have decided on a color scheme.  The new carpet will be a Berber similar to what we had on Mayfield but a little darker.  Bill wants to bring out the wood tones in the house, so we are trying for rich warm colors.

He had already selected a deep woody green (Winter Oak) paint for the 1/2 bath, and after we put it on the walls we really liked the color.  We decided to bring it into the breakfast nook to tie it in with the wood paneled walls of the family room.

The rest of the downstairs rooms will have the wainscoting painted Light Copper.  The upper walls in all the rooms will a light color called Castle Stone.  Of course, the ceilings will also get an update with Candlelight Ivory.  Here is the whole palette.

As a reminder, this is how the half bath downstairs looked. Even the ceiling was wallpapered.

Bill stripped the wallpaper, and we painted theWinter Oak on the bottom half.

Bill used a little richer classic style wallpaper to the top. Unfortunately he ran out of paper, so we will have to wait unitl next week to finish.

Here is what the breakfast nook looked like on move in day. We decided to carry the Winter Oak color into this room.

Off comes the wallpaper from the bottom that had been painted.

We figured since we were doing the bottom half we might as well do all of it and the kitchen. This is a sheet of 4 layers of wallpaper.

The kithen ready to be stripped. Bill has been pulling of the top layers of paper, and then spraying wallpaper remover, and scraping the backing off.

The breakfast nook and kitchen stipped, taped, primed, and ready to paint tomorrow.

We also painted the ceiling a new brighter color. The existing paint was very grey.
